When we think German, we think precision engineering and quality. And this is exactly what we have here today from Aristo. Aristo was founded in 1907 by Julius Epple in Pforzheim, jewelry and watch making city in black forrest, Germany. The company has been producing timepieces for the last three generations.
Aristo Navigator 3H59A |
The Aristo Navigator 3H59A is powered by a Swiss Made ETA automatic caliber, ETA2824-2, operating at 28,800 BPH (4 Hertzs) with hacking and hand winding capabilities. It has 25 jewels with a power reserve of 40 hours.
The Aristo Navigator 3H59A - Sapphire is clearly inspired by German military watches from the 60s. And that means it is designed with legibility in mind. The dial is kept simple and sticks to the basics. It's highly legible and the use of only black and white on the dial along with the minimal text leads to a refreshing and fuss-free dial. The classic Flieger sword-style hands and the matte black dial are filled with good amount of SuperLumiNova. Staying true to the pilot theme, the 12’o clock triangle is flanked by two dots on each side.
SuperLuminova. Quite a sight in the dark. |
The Aristo Navigator 3H59A - Sapphire is no slouch. It measures at a good size of 43mm, a lug-to-lug size of 53.5mm, a thickness of 11mm and a lug width of 22mm. The 316L stainless steel case is finely sandblasted throughout to replicate the finishing found on old German military equipments. To achieve this, the case is made up of three parts; the bezel, the mid case and the screw down case back. What's more, it even comes with a display back for us watch enthusiast to admire the ETA2824-2 at work. Do not be intimidated by the size of the case as the lugs are designed to curved downwards to give it a wrap-around feel. Oh, did we mention this watch is made specifically for Gnomon Watches with a sapphire crystal?

Another interesting feature of the Navigator 3H59A - Sapphire is the huge dial opening, making it visually bigger and instrumental. This also takes legibility to another level.
To complete the vintage theme, Aristo has paired this watch with a dark mocha calf leather strap with rivet.
In conclusion, the Aristo Navigator collection is certainly worth considering if you are in the market for a good quality German watch with an ETA2824-2 movement that doesn't break the bank. The watch has a lot of wrist presence contributed by the masculine designed watch case and large dial opening. It makes a perfect watch due to its thin profile, sapphire crystal and automatic movement.
