Blue 42 Beo Automatic 3H209- Sapphire

When we think German, we think precision engineering and quality. And this is exactly what we have here today from Aristo. Aristo was founded in 1907 by Julius Epple in Pforzheim, jewelry and watch making city in black forrest, Germany. The company has been producing timepieces for the last three generations.

The Aristo Blue 42 Beo Automatic Ref. 3H209 is powered by a Swiss Made Sellita automatic caliber, SW200, operating at 28,800 BPH (4 Hertzs) with hacking and hand winding capabilities. It has 26 jewels with a power reserve of 40 hours.

The Aristo Beo is clearly inspired by Flieger (German for Pilot) watches from the 60s. And that means it is designed with legibility in mind. The dial is kept simple and sticks to the basics. What is different here from all the other Pilot watch is the use of cool sunburst blue for the dial. It's highly refreshing and fuss free dial. Let's just say, we LOVE it. And a good amount of SuperLuminova is used on both the dial and hands for good visiblity in the dark.

Now, to the case. As the name implies, the watch measures at a good size of 42mm, a lug-to-lug size of 49mm, a thickness of 10.5mm and a lug width of 20mm. The 316L stainless steel case is well finished by hand with a mix of different satin brushed on the top and sides of the case to give it a premium feel. To achieve this, the case is made up of three parts; the bezel, the mid case and the screw down case back. What's more, it even comes with a display back for us watch enthusiast to admire the SW200 at work. The size of the case coupled with the short lug-to-lug dimension makes this a great fit on all wrist sizes.

Made In Germany

Another interesting point of the Beo 42 is the rather huge dial opening. That means this watch is all dial. It makes it look visually bigger than the size suggest. This also takes legibility to another level. The Aviator comes with a classic pilot’s “onion”  crown that allows wearer to admire while adjusting the time and winding up the watch.

The Aristo Blue 42 comes on a 20mm leather strap. Not only is it an aesthetically fitting strap to match a flieger, but the rivets were also placed there historically during WWII to ensure that the watch didn’t slide or fly off the wrist. The grey leather strap will also conform well to the shape of your wrist over time. The strap tapers slightly to a sandblasted buckle which matches the texture of the watch case.

In conclusion, the Aristo Beo collection is certainly worth considering if you are in the market for a good quality German watch with a Swiss automatic movement that doesn't break the bank. The good size and dimension also means this is a great everyday watch that will fit most wrist sizes. And if you are in the market for a Pilot watch and do not want a black dial, this will probably be it.
