When we think German, we think precision engineering and quality. And this is what we have here today from Aristo. Aristo was founded in 1907 by Julius Epple in Pforzheim, jewelry and watchmaking city in a black forest, Germany. The company has been producing timepieces for the last three generations.
The Aristo Flieger 38 Sterile 5H84 - Sapphire is powered by a Swiss Made ETA automatic caliber, ETA2824-2/SW200, operating at 28,800 BPH (4 Hertz) with hacking and hand winding capabilities. It has 25 jewels with a power reserve of 40 hours.

The Aristo Flieger 38 Sterile is inspired by Flieger (German for Pilot) watches from the 40s. And that means it is designed with legibility in mind, being criteria for the pilots back then. The dial is kept simple and sticks to the basics. It's highly legible, and the use of only black and white on the dial along with the minimal text leads to a refreshing and fuss-free dial. The classic Flieger sword-style hands and the matte black dial are filled with a right amount of SuperLumiNova. Staying true to the old-school pilot theme, the dial features what is called a “sterile” one; whereby the watch is unbranded with no signs of neither Aristo’s logo, nor the word “Automatic” text displaying at the front. This helps to keep the dial clean and uncluttered, with a clear view of the essential Arabic hour markers.
Further, the12’o clock triangle is flanked by two dots on each side. The addition of a date window at 3 o'clock is undoubtedly welcome. Now, onto the case. As the name implies, the watch measures at a right size of 38.5 mm, a lug-to-lug size of 45mm, a thickness of 10.5mm and a lug width of a whopping 20mm. The grade 5 Titanium case is made up of two parts; the combined mid case and concave bezel, and the screw down case back. Different from the other Aristo Flieger titanium collection, the Flieger 38 models has a satin brushed titanium case for added classiness.

Another feature that sets this model different from the standard Flieger 38 Beobachter is that this Sterile version features a screwed-in crown, giving one more assurance in water-resistant when it is near water.
What is more, it even comes with a display back for us watch enthusiast to admire the ETA2824-2/SW200 at work. The size of the case coupled with the short lug-to-lug dimension makes this a great fit on all wrist sizes. Oh, did we mention this watch is made specifically for Gnomon Watches with a sapphire crystal?

The Aristo Flieger 38 Sterile comes on a dark brown full stitched leather strap with a matching titanium buckle. In conclusion, the Aristo 38 collection is indeed worth considering if you are in the market for a good quality German design watch with an ETA2824-2/SW200 movement that doesn't break the bank. The right size and dimension also means this is a great everyday watch that will fit most wrist sizes, male or female. And especially at home on occasions that you need a smart looking that fits under the cuffs with a character to boot.
