We all are familiar with countless exceptional watches made by the Swiss and Japanese that are dominating the market. Nonetheless, the French also displayed excellence in the fine art of watchmaking with the creation of many beautifully decorated haute horlogerie pieces and complex movements. While YEMA may not be a name that the masses are entirely familiar with, it is a brand synonymous with the production of fine French-made timepieces and an incredibly rich heritage. Founded in 1948 by French watchmaker Henry Louis Belmont, YEMA has demonstrated remarkable mastery in watchmaking with the creative integration of innovative designs to their ever-dependable tool watches.

Crafted in collaboration with its ambassador and professional diver, Jason Washington, the all new Yema Sous Marine offers professional technical capabilities and a distinctive aesthetic. Equipped with our In-house YEMA2000 caliber and water-resistant to 300m, this new Yema Sous Marine adorns a compact and robust case, catering to enthusiasts and professionals of the underwater world.

Yema Sous Marine Orange - Rubber

The new collaboration timepiece is made from 316L stainless steel material, measuring a diameter of 40.5 mm, 12.2mm in height, and only 46mm for the lugs-to-lugs distance. It is intended to be ultra-compact thanks to its small lugs, resulting in a perfect unisex appeal. The unidirectional rotating bezel with aluminium insert, has 120 clicks which allows it to be adjusted perfectly according to the diving times. All of its markings as well as its triangular-shaped marker at 12 o'clock are treated with a SuperLuminova treatment for perfect readability even in the darkest conditions in deep water.

Onto its case, the circular brushed finish of it is in perfect harmony with the detail and texture of the dial, while the polished edges bring finesse and elegance to the overall design of the watch. The screw-down crown is further protected from any unwanted jolt or bump by a pair of crown guards. A key feature of a diving watch, the screw-in case back of the Yema Sous Marine offers a water resistance of 300 meters. Yema’s historic crest, embossed with a hydraulic press, is now treated by various micro-blasting processes, which results in a more accurate and precise finishing.

The second-generation In-house Caliber YEMA2000

Right underneath its sapphire crystal, the utilitarian black dial offers perfect readability thanks to its oversized 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock indices, alternating the rest of the applied hour indices. Altogether, they provide excellent legibility, given that each of the indices get a good dose of SuperLuminova all around. Its dissociated and inclined railroad, in contrast with the colour of the dial, also reinforces this essential element for professional diving watches. The white outer rehaut is sloped and clads a dotted minute markings with triangular indications at every 5-minute interval. Flanging within it belies another inner ring which is marked with the hour numerals for better time readability. Packed within is the innermost section of the dial where its finished with the brand’s logo, and depth ratings.

The Sous Marine is powered by the in-house Caliber YEMA2000 automatic movement, a stepped-up variation of the MBP1000 Caliber. This magnificent movement yields slightly enhanced precision and durability with optimized components, giving the movement a healthy power reserve of approximately 42 hours. This 29 jewel movement beats at a rate of 28,800 beats per hour with thorough accuracy checks by YEMA watchmakers. On top of that, the movement is gorgeously decorated with stripes and stunning perlage finishing that reflects on their fine craft in producing an in-house movement.

SUPER-LUMINOVA® BGW9 to ensure increased readability

Pairing the watch case is a sporty 20mm Yema Viton® rubber strap. Specifically tailored for the Sous Marine model, the end-links seamlessly matches the contour of the case and the new strap has been engineered for intensive use in all extreme conditions thanks to its light, flexible and highly resistant Viton® material which also repels dust.

This sensational partnership between Yema and its ambassidor has demonstrated both the beauty and performance of the Sous Marine with strong vintage inspiration, impeccable French watchmaking and robust modern mechanics. Being the new refreshing timepiece from the French brand, it perfectly forges a connection between its past and present state, crafted harmoniously to be a solid dive watch that will definitely adds into its history.
