Seventy-five years after the unveiling of its very first Ocean Star, MIDO is launching a special-edition series in homage to this iconic collection, known since the 1940s for its unfailing water-resistance.

The Ocean Star is Mido's nautical dive watch collection that comprises the most up-to-date Swiss Made divers in different color variants and strap combos. The design of each piece from this collection boasts a contemporary twist. Every single piece from the collection is modernly designed both in and out, until today where Mido took up the bold challenge of reviving a resonant part of its watchmaking heritage in the form of the Ocean Star and now with a GMT complication. The design cues strongly reflect on its vintage 37mm MIDO SkyDive Diver and Diver Scuba, while the resemblance more closely to the latter for its hour markers. This summer, Mido dives deep into its archives once again, bringing back the bold spirit of the 1970s with the Ocean Star Worldtimer, following up on the success of the Ocean Star Decompression Worldtimer.

The stainless steel case of the new Ocean Star Worldtimer measures 40.5mm in diameter, approximately 47mm lug-to-lug, and 13.4mm in thickness, making it a well-balanced choice for a sporty daily wearer. It shares its case architecture with the dive-focused Ocean Star Tribute, featuring a straightforward and robust design that recalls the golden age of recreational diving in the 1960s. Staying true to its vintage roots, the Ocean Star Worldtimer showcases Mido's iconic straight-lug mid-case design, complemented by a mix of brushed and polished finishing. This combination enhances its retro tool-watch aesthetic while adding a refined touch. The finishing here is, quite frankly, exceptional — subtly elevating the watch with a sense of understated luxury.

The unidirectional rotating bezel, featuring a black aluminium insert with engraved city names, brings the "worldtimer" theme to life in a practical and stylish way. A screw-down crown at the 3 o'clock position, protected by crown guards, completes the case with a functional yet timeless touch. At its heart is a Nivachron™ balance spring, offering enhanced resistance to magnetic fields and long-term precision.
