Mido Multifort TV Big Date Titanium Grey Ref. M049.526.44.081.00 |
Mido initially drew its inspiration for the Multifort collection from the architecture of the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge. However, this new Multifort breathes new ethos within the contemporary Harbour Bridge, as the watch still draws elements from yesteryears. Offering the perfect combination of style and substance, function and aesthetics, Mido celebrates this ultra-resistant, newly visioned monument with some instantly recognizable design features. But this collection's robustness and exceptional longevity, which has been in production for the past 85 years, also define the Multifort as a creation that has stood the test of time. And today, we unveil the Mido Multifort TV Big Date Titanium Grey.
Thanks to its 40mm diameter, 46.5mm lugs to lugs, and 11.8mm titanium case, the Multifort TV Big Date brilliantly weathers the passage of time. What truly sets it apart is its full titanium case, a first for the Multifort TV line, offering lightweight durability without sacrificing strength. Its polished oblong case and bezel contrast with its satin-finished top surface and sides for an added touch of refinement. The refined fixed bezel further clads a luminous pip at 12'o clock only to add more sportiness to its overall design. The case reminds one of those vintage "TV" shaped watches from the seventies, which bestowed lifestyle and fun elements into our relatively sober horology industry. This all-new Multifort scores highly while bringing a modern touch in a more wearable sizing, now enhanced by the premium use of titanium throughout.

Big Date Aperture |
Perfect for both daily wear and adrenaline-fuelled adventures, the Multifort delivers practical functionality, most notably with its prominent big date display positioned at the top. A flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides ensures a clear and undistorted view of the light grey dial, which features a striking radial sunburst finish. The smoky gradient, darkening toward the edges, adds a layer of depth that draws the eye. Both the hour and minute hands, along with the painted hour plots, offer captivating surface contrasts that enhance legibility. Horizontal grooves stretch across the dial, shifting in tone depending on the light, lending visual dynamism. Surrounding it all is a minute rehaut that brings a sporty edge to an otherwise refined design. Lastly, white Super-LumiNova on the key markers and hands guarantees visibility in the dark — an essential touch no matter the situation.
Pack within the 100m water-resistant Multifort is the Calibre 80 of MIDO based on the ETA C07.611 with a total 80-hour power reserve. The Caliber 80 is considered in-house as MIDO is part of the Swatch group family, and the modified ETA CO7.621 features a Nivachoc balance spring with its frequency reduced to 21,600 Hz and an improved mainspring capacity. The time and date adjustment can be easily adjusted through its screw-down crown, flanked by crown protectors on each side. The calibre 80 inside the watch and the added big date complication make it so value-driven as it holds one of the highest-quality movements today at an exceptional price point.
