Race back in time with the revival of a 42mm Pan Europ Automatic, boasting a vintage-inspired design from the 1960's. Since 2011 when Hamilton revealed the Pan Europ Chronograph, a limited re-edition of the 1971 Pan Europ Chronomatic with the renowned Calibre 11, the iconic design has left deep impressions for watch enthusiasts. Today, Hamilton brought back the emblematic Pan Europe but with a modern twist and specs. That said, it continues to channel a retro charisma suited for today's lifestyle with its faithfull re-interpretation.
Watches holding rich history and quality designs definitely spark a great deal of excitement for many watch lovers, especially when it comes to vintage reissues inspired by nostalgic design elements from a bygone era.
Hamilton American Classic Pan Europ Day Date Auto Green Ref. H35445860 |
Hamilton American Classic Pan Europ Day-Date Auto Green Ref. H35445860 receives a cushion-shaped 316L stainless steel construction with a unidirectional rotating bezel. While the watch now comes in a three-hander version, its overall thickness resulted in a notably slimmer case profile at 11.55mm, with the sapphire crystal. The watch sits extremely comfortable on the wrist with a versatile diameter of 42mm and thanks to its case shaped design.
Although the watch is not a dive watch as it clads a 50m water-resistant, the case is fitted with a polished unidirectional rotating bezel with a khaki green aluminium insert with the minute markings indicating 5-minute increments.
Vintage charisma through its case |
Taking visual cues from the good ol’ Hamilton Pan Europe Chronograph, the sleek case design echoes a charming old-school style from the ‘60s with its entire case finished to a high standard with smooth mirror-like polishing on the sides, and intricate Sunray satined finished on the top surface. The multi-finishing brings an extra flair that amplifies the dressy and retro appeal as it gleams with brilliance under bright lighting.
Retaining the iconic dial design of the classic chronograph, the Hamilton presents a sixties and seventies style dial in light green tone, matching both its 22mm rally leather strap, and the burgundy woven textile strap. The dial clads a concave outlook, with its sloped minute reheat, only to be paired with applied hour markers that matches its handset. Both the markers and hands are further clad in Super-Luminova that glows pleasantly in the dark. The dial finishes off with a beautiful day-date display at 3 o’clock, and the second hand is lacquered in the same colour as its bezel.
Display Caseback powered Caliber H-30 |
Powered by a well-known movement, the Powermatic 80 or caliber H-30, this timepiece contains a massive power reserve of 80 hours -also due to a reduced 3Hz frequency and updated kinetic chain. Thus this watch is superior in movement vis-a-vis other watches powered by Japanese movements. Additionally, this watch is bedecked with an anti-magnetic Nivachron balance spring.
Inspired by one of the world’s first automatic chronographs, the original Chrono-Matic D, the sporty and retro Pan Europ Automatic channels the essence of the American Classic, whether you are cruising down the coast or cruising into a drive-through. It is like those timepieces which bridge the nostalgic past with the modern, present day. Capturing the essence of possibility, these timekeepers will be your steadfast companions every step of the way, as you embark on your very own adventures and enjoy life in the moment.
