Squale celebrates it's 65th year anniversary with a historic partner, the Italian Navy for renewing collaborations that date back as much as 40 years. They unveiled their latest new and improved 1521 Marina Militare which iconically symbolises their first ever model Squale supplied to the Navy. More than just a watch, it's a piece of history. Limited to only 500 pieces worldwide, this watch is bound to be highly sought after by collectors.
 
Squale chose to keep the case silhouette the same to stay true to the original. The stay "true-to-original" philosophy gives watch enthusiasts much enjoyment of the retro-ness. However, much improvement has been made to the construction and finishing using modern-day machinery and technology.

The signature case design synonymous with Squale

At first glance, the 1521 Marina Militare flaunts its quintessential Von Buren dive watch design with a 42mm case diameter and 48mm lug to lug dimension. However, upon close scrutiny, this exquisite timepiece features an extraordinary black dial. Its white hour hand and vivid orange minute hand offer a stark contrast against its black dial, allowing for greater legibility. Additionally, its markers and hands are painted with Super-LumiNova which gives off a bright green glow in the dark.
 
Kept slim at 12.5mm, its case is forged with 316L stainless-steel. Following the new 1521 case design features well defined edges which are finely satin brushed with highlights of polishing at edges like the bezel. With a recessed crown located at its 4 o'clock position, this famed skin-diver case caters an impressive 500m water resistance which elevates its functionality high above other dive watches even till now.

Powered by the ETA2824-2/SW200-1 automatic calibre, operating at 28,800 bph (4 Hertz), this Swiss-made watch has a power reserve of 38 hours. Enjoy the smooth experience of its 60-click unidirectional dive bezel that allows for accurate and safe measurement of time elapsed especially underwater. Its matte black bezel insert now in a matching white tone along for the minute markers with exception of the first crucial 15 minutes which is in orange to highlight it's importance. All for a clearer indication with a harmonious look. 
 
Protected by a hardy flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on its interior, this watch shows off satisfyingly symmetrical painted markers. The Militare sports a neat black dial featuring white hourly markers with a date display at the 3 o'clock. It comes with sword hands with the minute and the tip of the second hand highlighted with orange, accentuating legibility even in poor lighting conditions. It positions the iconic Squale logo at the 12 which is balanced by an orange "Marina Militare" at the 6. Overall, a well-executed watch that highlights key details without feeling overwhelming.
