Japan is known for many things, perhaps one of the most widely recognised for its technological innovations. In the world of watches, Japanese watchmakers are widely known to excel in integrating modern technologies and meticulous craftsmanship to their watches, proving to be a serious competitor against the Swiss. Since 1950, Orient has been one of the most prominent watchmakers in Japan, producing mechanical in-house movements and high quality watches that pack incredible value. Joining the Seiko Epson group in the early 2000s, Orient continued to strive in producing a wide array of options ranging from divers to dress watches.

Off the bat, a high level of detail is reflected in the tastefully finished case of the Orient Mechanical Classic. The polished stainless steel case receives a highly finished bevelled edge that extends from one end of the lug to another, adding a touch of depth and luxurious character.
This high polish finish contrasts especially well with the satin brushed finish on the side of the case. Having a case diameter of 40.5mm, 12.6mm thin and a lug to lug distance of 46.5mm, the watch has a delicate size that fits most wrist sizes. Moreover, the lugs curve downwards gently, allowing the watch to hug the wrist comfortably. Designed for seamless daily wear, the watch features a practical push-pull crown and is water-resistant to 30m (3 bar), making it a reliable and elegant companion for everyday life.

Without a doubt, the star of the show is the magnificent dial. Underneath the crystal sits a vintage ivory pie-pan dial that curves downward in an elegant manner, adding incredible depth to the face. It features polished, applied Roman numerals in a warm gold tone, beautifully complemented by a heat-treated handset that shines in a brilliant blue. A classic minute-scale rehaut frames the perimeter, reinforcing its dressy, vintage aesthetic. Adding to its complexity, a 24-hour scale and a day-display subdial are neatly positioned at 5 and 10 o'clock, while a clean date window remains perfectly integrated at 3 o'clock.
Protected by the exhibition caseback lies, the Orient in-house caliber F6B22 automatic movement, featuring a substantial power reserve of 40 hours. This 22-jewel movement has a 3 Hz beat rate of 21,600 beats per hour. The Caliber F6B22 also holds hand-winding and hacking capabilities.
